We’ve spotted eye makeup with shimmering, shiny inner corners all over the place – here’s how to try it out for yourself. When it comes to eye makeup, the outside corner has always been the center of attention, let’s be honest. Winged eyeshadows or scaly pencils have been in the spotlight for ages and we got it, smoky eyes are one hell of a fox and a cat’s eye will never be a classic.
But what about our little tear ducts? Or the delicate internal area where our eye meets our nose. there are paintings waiting, right? Surely we can have fun there too? We are not the only ones to think so.
Recently, we’ve noticed that the inner corner of the eye is getting the attention it deserves, with inverted eyeshadow patterns focusing the drama inward rather than outward and ombre shades playing with the natural light and shade occurring there. In fact, this is an area makeup artists often notice as overlooked. Anatomically speaking, our noses literally cast shadow, blocking the amount of light reaching our inner eyes, and this is also a point where dark circles tend to be most pronounced.
That’s why it’s always a good idea to stand up with concealer, taking it in a semicircle on the side of the nose and eyes, but it’s also why makeup artists love to use a highlighter in the eye inside corner to illuminate it and make it stand out. We also saw makeup artists and celebrities play a bit further with the inner corners of the eye embellished. At the premiere of her movie Dune, Zendaya released a purple accent for the inner eyes that completely changed the mood of her otherwise dark smoky eye.
A deep purple added extra definition and prolonged the wind inward, and a pale, shimmering lilac helped cool everything down. we’ve seen makeup artists turn to a dark, vampire aesthetic. If the area is shaded anyway, you can still go, like Dove Cameron, whose makeup artist Kale Teter created this sparkling, smoky black accent, which we’ll be recreating soon.
